The power of volunteers

The power of an individual may seem to be little, but with the contribution and effort of every volunteer, every week we can continuously collect and distribute food to those in need, reducing the city’s food waste and caring for the grassroots. Bringing together the power of each volunteer do we realize how powerful we can be!

Last week, volunteers took part in the collection and distribution of bread and meal box sharing action in six districts, namely Fo Tan, Tai Po, Fanling, To Kwa Wan, Hung Hom and Causeway Bay. A total of 559 servings of bread and 41 meal boxes were collected weighing 116.02 kg in total. The total number of beneficiaries was 326.
Here were the results of each district:
Fo Tan: On Saturday, 83 servings of bread weighing 10.60 kgs were collected; On Sunday, 48 servings of bread weighing 7.30 kgs were collected. All servings of bread were distributed to the cleaners and members of the neighbourhood. The total number of beneficiaries was 78.
Tai Po: On Saturday, 91 servings of bread weighing 13.56 kgs were collected; On Sunday, 100 servings of bread weighing 20.13 kgs were collected. All servings of bread were distributed to the cleaners, scavengers, the homeless and members of the neighbourhood. The total number of beneficiaries was 105.
Fanling: On Tuesday, 102 servings of bread weighing 12.49 kgs were collected; On Friday, 65 servings of bread weighing 9.40 kgs were collected. All servings of bread were distributed to the cleaners, security guards, scavengers and the homeless in the district. The total number of beneficiaries was 64.
To Kwa Wan: On Wednesday, 47 sandwiches (included in the total bread weight) weighing 8.01 kgs were collected; On Sunday, 23 servings of bread weighing 2.02 kgs were collected. All servings were distributed to the cleaners and the homeless in the district. The total number of beneficiaries was 38.
Hung Hom: On Friday, 23 meal boxes weighing 22.43 kgs were collected and distributed to the cleaners, scavengers and members in the To Kwa Wan neighbourhood. The total number of beneficiaries was 23.
Causeway Bay: On Friday, 18 meal boxes weighing 10.08 kgs were collected and distributed to the homeless and members in the Victoria Park, Tin Hau and Fortress Hill neighbourhoods. The total number of beneficiaries was 18.
